Course Overview
 
You have one product. You have customers from different walks of life. You have savvy customers who reviewed your product, check out your competitors and their offerings. You encounter new age customers who tried your product, check out the promotions and left empty handed, eventually making the purchase elsewhere online. How do you sell this product to your customers? How do you sell ice to the eskimos?
 
  • Have the right attitude and mind-set.
    Change your NO to a Yes. “Yes, I can; I can sell ice cubes to Eskimos – I just have to find the ones living in Florida”.
     
  • Be more than 1 step ahead of your customer.
    Do your research, build up your product knowledge, understand body language and halo effect from first impression.
     
  • Challenge yourself: Step out of your comfort zone.
    Believe in yourself and customer will believe in your recommendations. Boost your confidence and acquire new selling skills.
     
  • Be a friend and they will believe you.
    Put the customer first. Be honest in your recommendation. People buy from people whom they trust and will keep coming back.
     
  • When we hear “I’ll have to think about it.”
    Learn to overcome objections and resistance. Do not sell products; provide solutions to the customers.
     
  • The key to close sale is to stop trying to close.
    Sometimes, being too persistent can leave customer on a sour note. Provide service to them with sincerity and empathy.
 
This unit is within the competency category of Sales and Customer Service and is one of the core modules leading to the WSQ Certificate in Retail Operations.
