Many successful companies leverage the design thinking mindset and framework to help them pivot and solve business problems. Design Thinking is a systematic process that empowers even the most traditional thinker to develop new, innovative solutions to the problem at hand. This course is designed to give you a foundational, practical understanding of the essential design thinking skills and mindsets. We will look at how our retailers can use the Design Thinking techniques to uncover actual needs and discover solutions to help businesses strive and operate in a way that meets the business objectives.

1) Understanding the Design Thinking framework – the five stages
2) Understanding the Design Thinking mindset and why it’s vital to businesses today
3) Practising the problem-framing techniques for clarity and discovery
4) Practising the Ideation techniques to generate ideas and solutions quickly
5) De-risk new ideas and solutions through rapid prototypes and testing

Course participants will acquire the following Knowledge, Skills and Competencies:
  • Identify the principles and practices of design thinking
  • Apply a human-centred approach to understand and discover the needs and desires of the users
  • Use problem-framing techniques to define and reframe a problem for more creative and effective solutions
  • Apply Ideation techniques for practical problem-solving, creativity, communication, and collaboration
  • Apply prototyping concepts to test and validate solutions
